Julien and Monica’s wedding took place in the enchanting Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco, in the heart of authentic western Sicily. From the very first glance, the abbey reveals a strong, solemn, and profoundly contemplative character: here, time seems to slow and silence becomes an integral part of the experience.
Originally a Benedictine abbey dating back to the 14th century and completed in the 17th century, the site retains a monumental structure with an incomparable atmosphere. The complex unfolds over four levels around two expansive cloisters, creating a harmonious and perfectly balanced architectural sequence. Surrounding it, more than 200 hectares of woodland protect the property, enhancing its sense of seclusion and opening onto sweeping views of western Sicily.
Crossing the monastery threshold, a 108-meter-long corridor, punctuated by vaulted ceilings and flowing red drapes, leads into the inner spaces—a symbolic passage that introduces the sacrality of times long past. The rooms, once the monks’ cells, are now luxurious suites of unmistakable style: elegant, refined, and sophisticated. Furnished with pieces inspired by classic Sicilian art, they embody a perfect union of a richly storied past with a present that continues to live and tell its story. Julien and Monica prepared for the day in these suites, allowing the abbey’s light, architecture, and serene silence to supporyt the most intimate moments.
Every detail of the event was meticulously curated. Hairstyling was by Cospolici Hair Experience, stationery by Veli di Zucchero, and the bride’s gown by Jesús Peiró. The floral design was created by Antonio Cassaro Florist, and the wedding cake by Pupi Inglese Wedding Catering.
The result was a wedding in historic abbey in Sicily that felt both essential and powerful, free from ostentatious excess. A destination wedding in Sicily, welcoming international guests within a uniquely timeless setting.
